Tonight we are coming together as the body of Christ to pray and sing to the Lord. Throughout the Word of God we see the importance of doing both.
William Jenkyn said, “Praise shall conclude that work which prayer began.”
Thomas Watson said, “Praising God is one of the highest and purest acts of religion. In Prayer we act like men; in praise we act like angels.
13 Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise.
14 if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
King David said in Psalm 17 these wonderful words.
6 I call upon you, for you will answer me, O God;
incline your ear to me; hear my words.
1 Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!
2 Serve the Lord with gladness!
Come into his presence with singing!
3 Know that the Lord, he is God!
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
and his courts with praise!
Give thanks to him; bless his name!
5 For the Lord is good;
his steadfast love endures forever,
and his faithfulness to all generations.
So, there are many references throughout the Word of God to pray and praise the Lord and so tonight we want to do both.
I am going to lead us in prayer and then we are going to stand and sing Blessed Assurance and Amazing Grace. After that we will take a seat and Matt will come in lead us in prayer.
Matt Wilson will Pray.

18 The Lord is near to all who call on him,
to all who call on him in truth.
Let us now go to the Lord and call on Him. We will split up into groups and I want you to just pray for the things that the Lord lays on your heart. There are many things that we can pray for tonight. You may have requests, burdens, sins to confess, people who need to know the Lord. Wisdom for an important decision. May we earnestly seek the Lord tonight.
When you are done please be quiet and remember those who are still praying.
